Terms and Conditions of Service

Welcome to the Unio Platform. These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern your use of the Unio software and services (the "Platform"). By accessing or using the Platform, you agree to be bound by these Terms.


1. Acceptance and Definitions

  • "Platform" refers to the Unio online application, its features, and services.
  • "Group Admin" refers to the user who creates and manages a group on the Platform.
  • "Member" refers to a user registered under a specific group.

2. User Roles and Responsibilities

Group Admin Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for group creation, member invitation, and configuration of subscription payments and financial accounts (e.g., Welfare Fund).
  • Must configure and maintain M-Pesa, Stripe, and PayPal integration details accurately for payment functionality.
  • Responsible for the integrity and compliance of all group-specific data and financial records.

Member Responsibilities:

  • Must accurately provide registration details, including categorization by year (e.g., "Class of 2012").
  • Full access to group features is payment-activated and requires successful verification of fees.
  • Changes to group or year categorization must be requested through the Group Admin.

3. Financial Terms and Payment

Group Subscriptions: Group Admin access and functionality may require a monthly or an annual payment to Unio.

Member Fees: Members must pay any required group registration or contribution fees as set by the Group Admin. The Platform facilitates this payment process but does not handle the funds directly.

Accuracy: Users are solely responsible for ensuring that all payment details, including Paybill numbers and transaction amounts, are correct before making a payment.

Expense Tracker and Reporting:

The Platform provides Expense Tracker and Financial Reporting tools for the Group Admin to maintain transparency and accountability. The accuracy of the balance reports and financial summaries relies on the Group Admin's accurate data entry.

4. Data Security and Privacy

Unio is committed to data security, utilizing SSL, OAuth 2.0, and data encryption for all information in transit and at rest.

Security Measures:

  • The Platform employs Role-Based Access Controls to ensure users only access information relevant to their Group Admin, Member, or Platform Admin roles.
  • Two-Factor Authentication (via SMS or Email) is offered for enhanced login security.
  • The platform performs daily backups to protect against data loss.

By using the Platform, you consent to the collection and use of your data in accordance with our separate Privacy Policy and international standards like GDPR.

5. Platform Usage and Termination

Prohibited Use: Users must not use the Platform to upload illegal content, harass other members, or interfere with the normal operation of the service.

Termination: Unio reserves the right to suspend or terminate any user account (Admin or Member) that violates these Terms, or if a Group Admin fails to maintain the required subscription or payment configurations.

System Requirements: Users are responsible for meeting the minimum requirements: a modern browser and a stable internet connection.

6. Limitation of Liability and Contact

Unio provides the platform "as is." While we strive for high security and availability, we are not liable for losses, damages, or service interruptions, particularly those related to the configuration or failure of third-party payment integrations (M-Pesa, Stripe, PayPal).
